United States Naval Academy
Information Program
of Southern California

Welcome!

This is an unofficial site maintained by the United States Naval Academy Area Coordinators serving Southern California.

The purpose of this site is to provide information for those who have an interest in attending the United States Naval Academy.

Mission of the United States Naval Academy

"To develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor and loyalty in order to provide graduates who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship and government."

How to become an official candidate

If you are interested in the United States Naval Academy and want additional information a good place to start is the Naval Academy Admissions page. The first step in applying to attend is by completing a Preliminary Application. You should meet basic eligibility requirements before requesting a Preliminary Application via online request, or by written request to:

Candidate Guidance Office
United States Naval Academy
117 Decatur Road
Annapolis, MD 21402-5018

(410) 293-4361

If the information provided in your Preliminary Application indicates your present record is strong enough, you will become an official candidate for admission and will receive a complete candidate application packet as early as August of your high school senior year. At that point, a Blue and Gold Officer is also assigned to counsel and assist you, and to conduct a personal interview. You are encouraged to initiate contact with your BGO. If you need assistance making contact with your BGO, please contact us.

How to contact us

Please be sure to see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for answers to the most commonly asked questions by candidates and BGOs. If your question is not already answered, or if you need further assistance, please contact us.
